Working with TMS Architects, Ridgeview construction worked on a significant remodel of the South Meeting House in Portsmouth, NH. Driven by Portsmouth Public Media,Inc., the non-profit organization managing Portsmouth’s public access television, TMS developed a remodeling scheme to bring portions of the South Meeting House up to current code requirements. In addition to updating mechanical systems, as well as the building’s fire protection systems, Ridgeview implemented designs by TMS to create office spaces, conference rooms, as well as sophisticated media equipment and editing room. Further adding to the “new look”, Ridgeview installed a new trim-scheme; matching the existing trim that gives the building its historic charm. New paint, updated bathrooms and a refinishing of the old oak floors, and the building will continue with a healthy, respectful modern lift. The project was completed in early October, in time for Portsmouth Public Media to launch its new headquarters.
This Ridgeview custom home features 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. The previous 18th century home was carefully deconstructed and the original post & beam timbers and wide pine floors are being reused.

In September of 2010 my wife and I contracted with Shane Carter of Ridgeview Construction Company. The mission was to dismantle and old farmhouse occupying the site and use some of the material in building a new ranch style house with a two-car attached garage. We presented a floor plan we liked, as well as our vision for the new house and our expectations to Mr. Carter.
All through the building process, we found that the construction crew was personable, courteous and professional. The sub contractors who were used were proficient and timely. All the issues which came up were addressed quickly and solved correctly.
Shane Carter takes pride in his work and guarantees customer satisfaction. His standard materials are the other contractor’s upgrades. We moved in May 6, 2011 and are very happy with the home.

Ridgeview remodeled a stately 19th century home in the North End of Manchester. Our scope of work included the remodeling of two bathrooms including a gorgeous custom Master Bath. We will also installed new exterior doors and added a new access to the patio, adding custom cabinets in the Kitchen and making intelligent use of space by recessing the refrigerator into the wall.

This custom colonial style home is uniquely situated by a sunny meadow, a position that will maximize passive solar gain in the winter months (and provide wonderful views year round!). It’s special features include a slab-on-grade foundation, radiant floor heating, low-flow toilets, and EnergyStar-rated lighting. In order to save both time and energy, the walls, ceilings and roofs were all built off-site and delivered, helping to reduce the framing time. The home owners decided to leave the 3rd floor “attic” space unfinished during the initial construction phase to allow them to grow into their dream home.

Shane built our dream home and was instrumental in making everything come together. From the first day we met Shane, we felt that we met someone who actually listened to our dreams, not just our wish list. Shane guided us through the whole acquisition and construction process and his open communication gave us confidence that we had chosen the right contractor. Shane and crew were always available to educate us about the way the house was constructed and how everything worked together.
The thing that make Shane stand out is that he really sees the house in its surroundings and he makes sure that it fits within the space. We love the house and of course, it’s surroundings. So far we have seen deer, turkeys, a lone rabbit and the beautiful sunsets. We will certainly be working with Shane and his crew on any of our future projects in and around the house.

This project transitioned a classic New England style 2-family home to 2 condominiums with upgrades. The condos now feature “Green” elements such as Double Low-E Argon EnergyStar windows, cellulose insulation, carbonized bamboo flooring, low-flow water fixtures and EnergyStar stainless steel appliances. All upgrades were made while keeping original architectural details, like the custom archways and curved staircase in mind.
This project is a complete energy retrofit and structural repair of a 1793 post & beam home with additions. Great care has been taken to choose materials that will stay true to the town’s historic regulations, the style of the home and the client’s needs. Typical to this type of project, we started from the ground up. Structural repairs were first made to the basement and existing post & beam structure. Next, attention was taken to update the home with high-efficiency features including heating, insulation and windows. Custom woodwork includes built-ins to provide storage and discreet access to the basement and wine cellar via a secret passageway. A pool house addition, field stone walls with built-in accent lighting, blue stone patios, custom cobblestone designs and 1/2 acre fruit orchard will highlight the grounds of this special home
Heat: High velocity Central Air System via a high-efficiency Buderus Boiler
Insulation: Closed cell spray foam and dense packed cellulose
Windows: Double Low-E Argon with true wood muntins

This master bath renovation exemplifies attention to creative use of small spaces. Borrowing from an adjoining room, we were able to create the soothing master bath oasis the home owner dreamed of. Custom tile work, custom shower with wall niche and bench, handmade Maple wall caps and shelves and even a handmade custom Maple vanity completed the job. A complete transformation.

“I met Shane about four years ago. I was impressed from the very first phone call – there was a voice on the other end of the line! We spoke at length and arranged a time to meet to discuss renovation ideas at my home. Expecting a long wait to get together, I was again impressed that Shane asked if I was available within a day or two. I knew from the moment Shane walked into my home that he was different – he was polite, friendly, and gracious, patiently listened and took notes while talking about all the crazy ideas I had, and provided many ideas that were perfect. The first project started shortly thereafter and included a large deck with custom features, new doors, new exterior steps, and a beautiful stonewall.
It is now four years later, and Shane and his wonderful crew are in the midst of a total renovation of my home that includes roofing, gutting and replacing the second floor, two new bathrooms, flooring, insulation, and a list of associated projects. Each day I come home and am in awe of what was created that day.
Shane’s crew (Jim, Ben, Nate, and Jay) as well as Dave the electrician, Danny the plumber, and Jack for HVAC, are truly the best. Everyone arrives as planned with a huge smile, and work tirelessly all day. Not only is everyone reliable, a lot of fun, and proud of what was accomplished each day, I arrive home to impeccable work, a spotless house, doors all locked, and my dog happy to have spent the day with his buddies!
I am honored to provide a recommendation for Ridgeview. This is a group that all respect each other, have a great time working together, and a group you truly look forward to seeing each day. Throughout the years and the many projects, I have found Shane incredibly organized, and I have never been left wondering what the plan is, or ever had a question or a phone call left unanswered. Ridgeview discovered a long time ago how construction and renovation should work – and this is done to perfection each day.”

“Shane worked very hard to keep on top of all the issues during construction. He and his crew did a wonderful job, their craftsmanship is outstanding! Shane and crew were always on the job at an early morning hour and were there working every day. We found he and his crew always to be happy, friendly, courteous, cooperative and very responsive to our wishes and requests- even coming up with innovative solutions to problems dismissed as “not able to be done” by others. Shane kept us informed of progress and/or delays. He was always very prompt in responding to calls, questions or input. He always took responsibility for any issues, delays or setbacks that he felt were in his realm as General Contractor, even if it was due to manufacturing issues. Even though the custom home building process is always fraught with frustrations and challenges, Shane and his crew were so pleasant to deal with!”

This beautiful salt-box style home’s wow factor is it’s soaring 24-foot ceiling, and floor to ceiling stone fireplace. Exposed post & beam timbers reflect this home’s rustic character. A custom man-room above the garage provides useful space for entertaining. You really can have it all!

” I “found” Shane of Ridgeview Construction on an Internet service as I was trying to locate a builder who would be willing to build a self-designed custom hybrid post and beam home.I truly feel that it was divine intervention! Shane and his crew are awesome!
Admittedly, my husband and I were very naïve and inexperienced with being “green”. Shane presented us with building options, including building in an eco-friendly/efficient manner. His no nonsense approach made it easy for us to decide on “going green”. He opened our eyes to an entirely new perspective and way of life.
Shane was flexible and willing to work with our ideas but at the same time, he told us what would work and what wouldn’t. Keeping to our ideals and a budget was crucial. We worked as a team to bring our dreams to fruition. Although building in general can be very stressful, Shane communicated with us every step of the way and really helped to alleviate the building stressors.
I would be remiss if I didn’t applaud the “boys”- Shane’s crew is nothing less than stellar. Right from day one, they presented themselves in a respectful and professional manner. They took immense pride in the fact that they were building our dream home.
More often than not, one hears horror stories about contractors, building a custom home, etc. Shane is the complete antithesis of “the norm” and we couldn’t be happier or more proud of the final product. He changed our lives and made our dreams come true!”

A highly efficient use of space in this home design allowed us to utilize the walkout lower level for living space and maintain an open concept post and beam design for the main areas. With a second story wrap-around porch and natural Cedar siding, the home interacts with and blends well with its natural environment. A Geothermal Water to Air system provides natural heating AND cooling.

“Just thought that you might like to know that…after 5 days of no power in our house, when it finally came back on, the temperature on our main floor was still at 65 degrees. The house quality was really apparent throughout this ordeal, we were never uncomfortable. It is amazing how well it holds the heat. Thanks!”
